Things NOT to put in your nose... by Brea Curry

Over the last week or so Brea has discovered that many items fit in her little nostril. So here is a list of things that Brea has... but should not have put in her nose.

The chewed off foot of her brand new fairy Barbie

The magnetic end of her magna doddle pen

Her finger

Her baby dolls bottle nipple

Barbie's hand

and my favorite so far..... drum roll please.....

Curry Christmas 2008

First off we hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours started at 7:00am when the kids got up and went to the living room to find a ball pit for then to play in. This was Hayden's first Christmas so it was extra special for us. Brea was not 100% sure what was supposed to happen but she figured it real quick. Hayden loved tearing off the wrapping paper but then just wanted to play with it. Go figure... you spend good money on toys and all they want to play with is the packaging.

This is Brea in a "blur" of unwrapping....

Hayden got his first piece of heavy equipment.

Elton's favorite gift was Battleship...

Our first tea party on Christmas morning...

And the best present of the day for me was Hayden finally started crawling. He still army crawls but only when he is chasing Brea or the cats. He is also walking behind any objects he can push... his favorite is the rocking chair.
After we opened presents and had a wonderful waffle breakfast we went to Elton's folks for a fantastic lunch and had a great visit. It was a nice lazy day... just they way they sould be.

Happy Hanukkah Art Kane

Elton's dad Art was raised in the Jewish faith and as a kids Elton and Ron were "combo kids" meaning they celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas. Although neither one carries on the tradition of celebrating Hanukkah I want to take a moment to honor Art. I know he looks down on his sons with love and pride and he is greatly missed.

What is Hanukkah .....

Hanukkah commemorates the victory of a band of Jewish warriors, the Maccabees, over the Syrian king Antiochus almost 2,500 years ago. After driving out the Syrians, the Maccabees reoccupied the Temple of Jerusalem, where they found enough oil to keep the all-important “Eternal Light” shining for only one day. Miraculously, the oil lasted for eight days, hence the eight days of Hanukkah (which is derived from the Hebrew word for “rededication.”)

Curry Family Chrismas Card 2008

December 2008

Dear Family and Friends,

What a year it has been for the Curry Family. Our year started with Brea’s first birthday. We had a Tinkerbell Party at the Denver Children’s Museum. It was so much fun to watch her play with her little friends. Thanks to everyone who came, we appreciate your love and support.

On March 20th we welcomed Hayden Tanner Curry to our family. He weighed in at 8 pounds 3 ounces. For those of you who don’t know we had Hayden at home with a midwife. It was an eye opening, one of a kind… boy, Elton is glad he’s a man… experience.

On May 5th Elton and Brook celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful dinner of Pasta Marinara delivered from Pizza Hut as we were in the middle of moving into our new apartment. We ate on the floor with the Brea & Hayden… it was the best anniversary ever. Also in May Brook’s mom Kathy had the chance to come out to Denver and spend a week with us (really she just came to see the kids). We had a wonderful time and were sad to see her go home.

June was the month of the “biggest surprise of all”. We found out that we were having another baby. We are not sure what keeps causing us to get pregnant… but we are looking in to it. Our new baby girl will arrive in February 2009.

July was a big month for us. Elton started a new job with Integra Telecommunications here in Denver. He enjoys the fact that he learns something new every day. Kelson turned 17 on July 9th. He is currently living in Fort Collins, Colorado with his father. Brook celebrated her 34th birthday on the 24th… for those of you who are counting… this was the 3rd year in a row that she has been pregnant for her birthday… and Thanksgiving… and Christmas… and New Years… really people, how does this keep happening?

August was Nolan’s month. He turned 14 finally… something he had been looking forward to for years. He also started his freshman year of high school at MESA a school of the arts here in Denver. He is doing really well and seems to be finding his groove.

Elton’s birthday came right on schedule, September 21st. He also turned 34 but won’t admit to it… and if he does… he says he’s like a fine wine… you know they get better with age….

October and November were mile stone months for Hayden. He cut 2 teeth, started holding his own bottle, figured out that chasing Brea was the best thing in the world (he doesn’t crawl yet… but he is the fastest army crawler we have ever seen), started sitting up all be himself and now pulls himself up on anything he can. He is a fun little guy to have around. We also had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with Elton’s parents and family. Dinner was fabulous. A huge thanks to Elton’s mom Gail for all the hard work, great food and fantastic company.

And now that the year is coming to a close, we want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We send you our love and warmest wishes,

Elton, Brook, Kelson, Nolan, Brea, Hayden & baby Payton (due 2.21.2009)

If you’re neurotic you know it clap your hands….

A friend sent me an email with 10 reasons why she is neurotic and I laughed so hard I just had to share mine.

I know I’m neurotic because:

1. The toilet paper has to roll off the top of the roll …. I have been known to change it at other people’s homes, restaurants, offices… you get it I’m sure.
2. The dishwasher doesn’t always clean the dishes, so all dishes MUST be scrubbed with soap before they go into the dishwasher.
3. There is only one way to load the dishwasher… that would be my way… everything has to be in neat rows from largest to smallest and the silverware cannot be touching each other .
4. If I’m folding laundry and I drop something on the floor… it has to be rewashed. (I am working on this one)
5. When I eat candy like jelly beans or skittles I eat all the like kinds first and then the ones without mates. Orange with orange, cherry with cherry….. grape… lime… lemon
6. If I have note, a paper, basically anything that I have written and someone else writes on it…. I have to rewrite it so only my handwriting is on it.
7. I hate to touch coins… they are so gross… I have to wash my hands because I feel like I have funk on me.
8. I have a nighttime routine… pee, brush teeth, floss, put on chap stick, get a drink and last but not least put lotion on my hands and feet. I do the same thing every night .
9. I detest drinking tab water… it smells funny, it taste funny… I only like reverse osmosis processed water… and yes I can tell the difference.
10. I eat cereal with a fork…. I hate milk it is slimy and leaves fur on my teeth.
